For this, social investments are made based on an ongoing dialogue with our communities and agreements, aiming at building initiatives and solutions that make sense for the territory where we operate and the people who live there. We believe that this proximity enables the construction of a relevant legacy in the regions we operate, together with the communities.

Social license to operate

Creating a positive legacy for the communities where we operate is a strategic part of our business and guides us in our actions in the quest to establish trust and transparency relationships.

To this end, we keep open dialogues, including for the prevention and resolution of conflicts, ensuring the maintenance of a good relationship with society and the surroundings of our operations.

The relationship with our communities is part of our social action strategy, which includes proactively listening to residents and local stakeholders, meeting with communities and their leaders, participating in sectorial forums, holding events with business partners, in addition to the several communication channels to receive suggestions and complaints, clarify doubts and share information about ongoing initiatives.

Our aspiration

Our aspiration at Nexa is to be recognized as a reliable and accessible company, perceived positively by its stakeholders. We also seek to boost the socioeconomic development of the locations where we operate, thus guaranteeing our social license to operate in the communities.

Comments No Nexa operations are located on indigenous or adjacent lands Only the Aripuanã is in a region adjacent to indigenous lands. The unit has formal agreements with adjacent indigenous communities. Our operation is more than 10 km from the Indigenous Lands of the Cinta Larga and Arara do Rio Branco peoples, and Cerro Lindo, Atacocha and El Porvenir, in Peru, which are close to Quechua populations, which recognition is recent and subsequent to our operations.

Description In 2019, two conflicts were recorded, one with the community of Chavín and the Asociación de Defesa e Desenvolvimento Agrícola del Valle de Topara and another with the community of San Juan de Yanacachi, both in Pasco, Peru, related to land use. In 2020, there were 3 conflicts in Nexa Operations operations. Two in the Cerro Pasco region (Atacocha and El Porvenir) in Peru and one in Aripuanã in Brazil. In 2021, it recorded smaller-scale conflicts in the units of Cerro Lindo, El Porvenir, in addition to monitoring and agreements to mitigate conflicts in Aripuanã.
